Hey everybody
by: Moni

Thx so much for the support. I am on day 13 and other than sometimes feeling slightly sluggish, I am fine. I have lost 11 lbs. and have stayed the same weight for 2 days!! Bumber!! This is my second long fast and I was able to work out hard and run. This fast, not so much. Question to fast vets: How do I wean myself off the fast? Mostly I drink water when I feel like it, other times just a little juice. I seem to regain 10 of the pounds that I just lost. How can I prevent this? I would love to hear your thoughts. Keep up the good fight, it's not so easy right? Have a great wekend.

keep pushing!
by: Kasey

hey all im on day 8 and ive decided to push my fast to 30 days instead of 28. I feel like i have some times where i feel full of energy, but then sometimes im really tired. I've been getting sleep! And im super excited, cuz im an insomniac to the 100th degree lol. I've lost about 13 lbs so far.(yay me!!) For the past few days ive been thinking about spaghetti and meatballs and Its been hard, cuz these cravings come at night. I usually just drink as much water as i can hold, and then lie down and drift off into lala land. Its hard with a water fast, but my mindset is i'd rather do it for 30 days, than break it now,(after i've gotten so far) and fall back into depression/obesity/unhealthy. My stomach is flattening out nicely! (plus fo me) Even though it wasnt an extreme problem to begin with(i weighed 210 lbs, but was wearing size 12 and 14 jeans). My advice for everyone attempting a fast is to do it at a pace thats comfy for you. If your days are extra busy, put some juice in there. If you cant take time out to get a juicer and make your own, i'd reccomend the Simply brand. they have simply orange, simply apple, simply lemonade, simply limeade, etc. Just make sure you water down the juice a bit to help with the detox. peoplewill try to fill your head with negative thoughts like youre gonna end up in the hospital, its not safe, etc, but if you know your stuff and have prepared for the fast, then dont mind them, and after you're finished, i guarantee they'll be eating thei words. REMEMBER!! DRINK HALF YOU BODYWEIGHT IN OUNCES DAILY, BRUSH THOSE TEETH. AND ALSO REMEMBER THAT THE PHYSICAL FEELING OF THE FAST ISNT HARD, BUT THE MENTAL/ PSYCHOLOGICAL PART OF IT IS A B***H!(excuse my french)lol good luck!

thanks everyone!!
by: kasey

Hey all:

Thanks so much for the support.. I'm on day 3. It's easy so far for me. I felt somewhat sick on day 1, but I studied water fasting for so long before actually doing it that I knew it was common... I drink about 7 bottles of water a day.

This is a little more than half my weight in ounces. As far as the coating of the tongue and stuff, I just keep brushing my teeth and I try to breathe with my mouth open so Iwont trap my breath. lol I know, sounds crazy, but anywho!

I feel so great doing this.. and I just keep hoping and praying that I can keep it going until February 27.. which would make 30 days. I don't work or anything, so i don't know if that's why I haven't been feeling too horrible.

I forgot my email address password!!!lol But I'll keep you guys updated. Oh, and I refuse to look at the scale and keep weighing myself. I take a daily front shot and side shot, and each day I compare them.

I'm optimistic and thanks again for the support! Please do keep in touch all of you!

Fasting Bad Breath, Coated Tongue - Any Suggestions?
by: Anonymous

OMG! I am on day 5 of my fast and my breath is horrible. I use mouthwash, but it only lasts a little while. Any suggestions? Also, my tongue is coated. Fasting sure doesn't make you look or feel pretty.

I'll Be a Buddy!
by: J

I have tried fasting in the past, but no one understands and I always end up breaking it because of people's criticisms.

I find it really hard to do alone, so I'd love to find someone willing to talk through the hard parts! I want to start asap, email me if you want to: jbear12@hotmail.com

Has anyone had a goal of a 50lb. loss and it stayed off post fast? I want to fast again, but am having a hard time. The first fast was so easy, I was so focused. This time, not so easy. Fasting Buddy
by: Anonymous

Kasey,

I totally empathize, and I like what you said about "tireless tasks..." this is exactly my problem - driving myself. And that I am "gorgeous, but have no confidence." And that fasting is spiritual.

My situation is that I have lost the weight I wanted to lose but am still "food-addicted." I control what I eat but , miserably, live to eat. And I am never really secure against the risk of losing my control and going back into the toxic state of bingeing.

I know that fasting (I do short fasts regularly) lifts me out of this state of being so driven to the food all the time. I would like to do a long fast. I would like to do a 28-day fast, like you, but societal fears of fasting have a grip on me and though I know it would be totally safe for me, I can't quite set such a goal for myself.

I am preparing for some sort of real progression and development in my fasting, lengthening my fasts, by totally cleaning up my diet and strictly spacing my meals apart in time. Not finishing one meal and immediately eating another. I have a rule where ideally

It is ever clearer to me that my being driven to food to suppress my feelings is based in what amounts to an emotional habit of self-indulgence. I do not mean to sound harsh with myself.

I just mean that I do see that I am making an actual choice to engage in panic (generally, being terribly afraid my needs/wants in any given situation are not going to be met; and being driven for this reason into being dishonest with others or withdrawing or ... ?), which drives me to the food.

It is a little hard to explain in a short note. It is a great gift to have this become clear to me, though. I need to hold onto this awareness and develop it. I notice I have a habit of being negative. I forgive myself for this but also see I need to move away from it, maybe.

I do have to cry out some pain - that tomorrow is my 40th birthday and i made a great effort to clean up my diet and embark on a long fast before then, so I would feel successful in my life... but in eating certain foods "for the last time,"

I made myself really ill (overdid it) and now I don't feel like I can do more than a short fast for my most important birthday. I feel so sad.

Well, I know I am older than you, but maybe you would like to be in touch for support and for developing our fasting together. You can reach me if you like at lcathf@gmail.com.

Hope to hear from you!

Warmly,
Laura
