need a support NEW
by: Anonymous

hi, my dear fasting fellows, I am 33 years old female vegetarian, and I have more than six months of experience of fasting, for 1 to 11 days, however last 3 months I cannot go over my third day, I am weak by my mouth, I look for a supportive word or someone to tell me how important is the fasting, even though I do understand that, very well, but still I want a support

Hey NEW
by: Anonymous

I feel the same if you can get past third day you are totally fine, I however am on day 9 of a Juicing Fast and I just landed a new job but instead of celebrating I have to continue starving it's very difficult as I've had a small sinus infection also. I would love to hear from others on motivation as well. I've only lost 6 pounds in 9 days so really going slowly. Juicing makes it much easier however near the end I may do just water fast we will see

tips from experience
by: Anonymous

ive fasted many times for 2-3 days at a time and my longest water fasts were 11 days and 14 days. my third day is always worst especially when i see others eating. for every1 who wants to attempt this, push through that 3rd day after that u lose ur hunger and craving for food. DRINK AS MUCH WATER AS POSSIBLE. if not u will feel very nauseas due to toxins leaving ur body. also keep urself out of strong heat youll get nauseas and lightheaded. dont weigh yourself every day it could just discourage some people. keep urself out of the house and occupied wth work or school. if u do get lightheaded and ur vision goes blurry lower ur head to get blood to it quickly. dont count the days u have not been eating that makes it harder to stick to. try to stay away from food ads also. most important, dont overeat right after ur fast is over. u will either gain alot of weight back due to ur temporarily lowered metabolism or feel very sick. also if ur having trouble wth willpower ive tried keeping a hairtie or rubberband around my wrist to cause myself just a little bit of pain to snap myself out of that thought. also find hobbies and do very light exercise. too tough and ur muscles could break down. good luck to all who want to try this!

Spiritual Fast.
by: Brian Rodelli

I am starting a 40 day spiritual fast. I am a born again Christian and Believe God has called me to do a fast for healing in my family and to strengthen my schooling to become a pastor and many other rewards I will recieve from this fast. I have done a couple 3 day fast and one 4 day fast. But I want to go the distance with the 40 day fast because I believe the Holy spirit gifts will really come to power through me if I stay directed in this journey. If anyone is interested in fasting with me please let me know I have started at 12:00am 5/8/11 and I will post my progress every few days.

I understand
by: Jessica

Have you considered doing a juice fast? If you invest in a good juicer that can also handel leafy greens you might have better luck sticking to your fast on that dreaded 3rd day. Juice fasts tend to be longer than the water ones, but they also help with the hunger and dizzyness.
Another thing that helps me is drinking HOT tea. It seems to trick my somach better than cold or luke warm beverages.

As far as motivation goes, I noticed you are doing this for weight loss.... and what helps me is to look at pictures of people that id like to have their body shape. Ie: I'm insecure about my stomach and upper thighs, so I look for people with flat stomachs and small legs.
I find the more I'm around heavier people, or "not health concious" people the more I cheat... so having a visual reminder of my goals help.

I just did my first water fast
by: James

And I know exactly what you mean. I started my fast because I had flu and I had bad stomach cramps and full body ache from it. I stopped eating and just stuck to water and got over that after 2 days. But after day 3 my stomach would growl a lot so I kept sipping water. Trouble was, I could hear the water slushing about in my stomach and day after day it was the same, I felt like sick much of the time too, probably from the detoxing and stomach sensations.

Anyway I had planned to go for a minimum of 14days and try to extend it to 21 days if possible, I broke my fast on day 7 because I was just sick of feeling sick. I followed through my drinking juice, fresh fruit and salads these last 2 days now, I must say my taste buds are overdrive, the fruit tastes so sweet its amazing.

The only advise I could share from my short fast is when your feeling sick dizzy, go and lay down and take a nap if possible. It helped me to some degree. I've also read about people drinking lemon/lime seltzer and green tea which are zero calories and take the hunger pangs away and give you energy. I can't get the seltzer where I live, I believe it's an American thing, but would have considered it if I had the option.

Lastly, I read that filling your mind with healthy plans of your life AFTER the fast can keep you on track, it's worked for me so far. I just focused on all the lovely fruit and veg I'd be eating and I'm doing that right now :).

Don't give up anyway, I plan to try another longer fast in the future, but I'm going to do a full bowl flush and continue eating healthy before my next attempt, this should reduce the amount of sickness and dizziness in the first 3 days.

I know how you feel
by: Theresa

I am fasting right now and it is the end of day 7. When I feel myself getting weak I go on to youtube and watch the woman who did 3 consecutive 40 day fasts. She is amazing and it always keeps me on track. This is the first fast I have fasted for this long, I plan to do 40 days and a month later another 40 day( I have plenty to loose.) Hope this helps
