Dear Anonymous, I didn't have much of a social life during this fast as I was simply too weak, cold and I was fully focused on my cleansing. I still went to church, took a walk w/a friend and when my grown kids stopped off for a couple of days my husband cooked and I served the food and helped clean up. I wasn't hungry most of the time so that was good. I went to the library and searched on the internet for every scrap of info on fasting and Calorie Reduction I could find. This info really encouraged me to keep going and realize although it seemed like a long time the benefits would outweigh my being a hermit. I hope this helps and good luck.

Dear Moni, The weight gain really ticked me off after my fasting ended. I'm now 11 lbs up and was 13 lbs up but I am now doing IF. I regularly skip dinner a couple of times weekly I also fast for 24 hours at least once a month. Sooo unhappy w/the big stomach as I finally had a flat gut for the first time in many years.

High fiber foods like your raw veggies would be quite helpful in cleaning out the colon but I found I need a little more help w/an herbal colon cleanse. The other reason for weigh gain is water retention. The body holds more water w/food then when fasting and of course water weighs heavy.

One last point about weight gain after my fast was the fact that I fasted for so long that I lost some muscle weight along w/the fat so now that I'm exercising like a mad woman and consuming food I'm actually growing my muscles back and they weigh more then fat or other body tissues. I find myself quite flabby in my limbs and that really bothers me. I'm down quite a few inches (except my gut now)and they jiggle horrible and look even worse. I hope in exercising so much these days including cardio for fat burning and weight training for muscle growth that I can tone these up and feel firm.

I hope to do another cleansing fast this spring as we (my hubby and me) may be speaking in the Virgin Islands in June and I'd love to be at goal weight and have strong, firm muscles by then. If you need a buddy to fast with I'd love to do it with you.

Even though I wasn't healed from all my aliments like I had prayed and hoped for, a couple of things I'm really happy about is my BP remains at a healthy reading and because I know what hunger feels like I can easily skip a meal or two and know I'm going to feel better because of it. Before I imagined I'd have a headache or other such nonsense so I could eat again. Now I feel empowered and LOVE the feeling of being hungry before bed as I know my body is working hard at cleaning out the poisons and toxins I've consumed and breathed in. I eat pretty darn healthy but I'm not a saint and neither are most people. That's why I like fasting and exercising so much, it helps us clean out our mistakes and indulgences.

I wish both of you God Speed and please know I'm here for you if you need it. hugs, ~Les

Great job Leslie!!! How soon do you thinkn u will fast again? Is is possible to not gain 10+lbs back? I just finished a 30 day fast 3 weeks ago and my stomach went from flat to slightly pooched. Pre fast it was flat, just not as flat as on fast. Any advice? Do I have to start over and fast again? i thought abt. doing a 5day fresh veggie fast. HELP!!!

Congratulations

Hi,

That's a great result and your skin looks glowing!

How did you manage any social life?

did you cut off from seeing people?
that's what is really hard for me and I'd like to know how you handled it.
Thanks for any tips.

Thanks!

Thanks for your comments. I'm allergic to almonds so no almond milk. Coconut water comes fresh from the young/green coconut. Cut off the top and stick a straw in it. Easy! Now I'm excited about CR and exercising. Today, March 8, 2010 I start on P90X Lean for 90 days. I still have hip, knees and neck issues but I will simply do what I can and do the best I can. I'll still come out way ahead w/this attitude. I hope you are happy w/fasting. It definitely was hard for me but even 3 weeks later my BP is still down to normal which thrills me! Yesterday I did a 24 hr fast and will do that often. Let me know if I can help you or just to chat. I'd love that. hugs, ~Les

That's wonderful Leslie!

WOW, that's wonderful Leslie and is very encouraging! Your skin looks like it's glowing! That's good information about the things you had such as coconut juice and all. Did you make raw almond milk?...just curious as to what it was exactly. CONGRATS on the Weight Loss and better health!

Sincerly,
Karen
