Big Daddy Wants to be Thin Again

My Little Guy, Me and Pet Snake BEFORE I Started This Venture.
I am in my eighth day of a no-nonsense water fast. I am 6 feet and I weighed 255 when I started.
My ultimate goal weight is 175 or an 80-pound loss. I am 64 and within the past year started to see my blood pressure rise to borderline hypertension.
I also started experiencing severe backaches. I was eating garbage.
I have cleared my schedule for 60 days and am going to try to do most of this within this time frame. Clearing my schedule meant sending my seven year old son, the love of my life, to a local summer camp.
I am a 64-year-old man raising a seven year old son on my own. This is not a misprint. Child care and water fasting do not mix.
I still see him once or twice a week at his camp and talk to him almost daily on the phone. I also cleared my schedule of all work; there is nothing during this 60-day period that I must do.
I moved ALL food out of my apartment and stocked up on piles of books from the library. Prior to the start of my 60 days I warmed up to water fasting during a three week period when I did some juice fasting and restricted calorie intake.
I lost about 6 pounds during this period and have lost 16 pounds in the eight days I have been water fasting, for a total loss to date of 22 pounds.
I am over one quarter of the way to my goal already! The following is my fasting chart. The minutes refer to the time I spend walking albeit walking very slowly.

The good and the bad: This is not easy.
The bad: On day eight I still have obsessive thoughts about food.
The good: I do not crave hamburgers or sweets, but what I dream about is just one trip to the salad bar.
Oh to eat a tomato or a little cottage cheese and maybe a bowl of soup! When I think I am going out of my mind I try to sleep no matter what time it is. That usually works and brings relief.
When I awake I am not hungry for about one hour. Reading and writing helps distract me.
Watching TV and all those food commercials drives me crazy. I saw an Applebee’s commercial yesterday that I dreamed about last night.
The bad: I am weak, light headed and just slightly nauseous.
The good: My back problems have disappeared and my blood pressure is dropping.
The bad: At times I become slightly depressed and feel sorry for myself for having to endure this torture when the rest of the world can eat.
The good: At other times I am ecstatic for “taking the bull by the horns” and the possibility that I might really reach my goal weight by autumn.
I feel the one important thing I did right was clearing my schedule and isolating myself during this period of time.
It is a time to turn inward and reflect on oneself and ones life without interference from others.
Also sleep is a very important part of the process and I like to be able to nap whenever I want.
I am not saying what my goal is with respect to how long I wish to water fast, but I am in this for a long haul. I have 60 days to work with and after that it is going to be maintenance and eating healthy.
So I am very committed to water fasting because of its efficiency and speed of weight loss. It could be a long time before I get another 60 days all to myself.
That is my story on day eight, but I will keep you posted.
