Day One of Fast - Weight Loss & Healing

I won't say how long I will fast. I need to do it, I've always wanted to, but was too addicted to food to be successful. I became a vegan a year ago and kicked a lot of bad habits. I'm still overweight and looking for some healing.

I read that the average healthy man can live 50-75 days without food. That a pound of fat is worth 3500 calories. That sort of inspired me. I realized my body was well equipped and designed for me to fast. Biologically, we are designed to experience times of famine.

So, I want to rid myself of the junk-fat I filled up on for years.--Let my body use that fat for fuel. I won't commit to any set number of days. I'm taking it one minute at a time.

I've almost survived day one. Many say the first few days are the worst. I'll say that seems to be true. As the day progresses, I find my strength getting weaker. I hear this whisper in my head...it is filled with doubt and negativity. It tells me stuff like this is not responsible, you should eat. I can't eat now.

If I gave in now, I'd totally pig out. I'd inhale everything in sight. I haven't fasted long enough to appreciate being cleansed. I am hanging on, even if it is only by a thread at times, I am hanging on because I know if I quit this early, I'll just binge. I am hoping that after a few days it will become easier...that assumes I can survive a few more days!

My husband is my eating partner in crime, however, and I almost feel like my fasting is causing him to be bummed. We like to go out to eat together and at the very least, prepare meals together. He isn't being an ass or anything, but this isn't easy for us.

Anyways, I've written a book. Sorry. If I can find this website again, I'll come back and let you know how two goes. If it goes. I refuse to think further ahead than the now. But I know I am strong enough, finally, to do this. I know it is in there somewhere.
