Dealing with Headaches While Fasting

by Brittany
(Cadyville, NY, USA)

Hello All;

I have been water fasting on and off now for about 5 weeks. My first fast lasted 10 days and was very successful and pleasant.

However, I've tried to begin another 10-day fast, but am overcome with debilitating headaches that discourage me from continuing.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how this can be avoided during a water fast?

raisins for headaches during a fast NEW
by: riq

Have been fasting for weeks and always take a mouthful of raisins and a large tankard of water whenever in difficulty. this works for headaches, abdominal pain, and eases mental and emotional discomfort. Try it, it works. Soaked prunes in the morning prevent constipation. eat nothing else other than raisins.

Getting rid of headaches while fasting
by: All Gone

The one important thing to remember is that when you do any kind of fast your body releases toxins in your body in which you should take a herbal laxitive or get a colonic to help move those toxins out your body....

I know how you feel!

I'm in India doing a 28 day fast and I've had excruciating headaches for 8 out of the 9 days I've been here. Much more and I'd have called it quits. I've had 3 colonics and get waterd down juice and broth everyday, drink loads of water but no joy. I think that you have to ride it through. I would have taken pain killers had I been able to get my hands on them - because a few of those is worth getting through the bad part of the fast in my opinion.
Good luck to all those who fast - it's a journey!!

Fasting Headaches
by: Anonymous

If the headaches are really bad, you may have to modify your fast to allow a few watered-down, organic juices. Those headaches are caused by low blood sugar. A radical drop in sugars can cause headaches, shakiness, nausea and lethargy. Occasional sips of juice will help you get rid of or avoid headaches.

Headaches While Fasting

I think you should clean out your bowels first.
That should eliminate the headaches. Try prune juice.
