Thank you so much for replying! No, I am not put off by your age, don't worry. I'm just glad to know that there are other people out there who are like me.

I'm not trying to be anorexic, I simply want to clean myself up and do something good for myself. I have read and heard so many good things about fasting and cleansing and I just want to do it.

I feel hopeful and motivated! But I tried to buy some cleansers at the store and they both required ID. I guess I'm not old enough to buy them on my own, and I obviously can't ask my parents.

But thank you for replying, I do appreciate it. :) hopefully we can help each other succeed in our attempts to become healthier and happier.

Hi -

I HAD to write you after reading what you have written. I went through just what you did at 17. I'm much older and hope that does not put you off.

I have slowly won the battle against food and begun to learn to fast. Yes, you are legitimate in wanting to push away the food! Yes, you deserve to fast!

Yes, you deserve respect for any agenda you set for yourself. I sneaked around, too, and though I didn't get caught, i was my own worst enemy, bingeing ... or, rather, my family was also my enemy, knowing I was bingeing and being cruel enough to ignore it and ignore the torture I was in.

Calling me "anorexic..." I am convinced this is simply a false term and concept; I am quite radical about that and hope also that does not put you off. I am actually not quite resolved as to what I think about that issue but wrote a documentary about it in which I critiqued treatment programs, which I feel do absolutely nothing but harm.

All patients in such programs in my estimation really need to learn to fast (which is safe for thin persons as well, and often necessary, for healing, contrary to popular belief)...

I don't want to write too much on things like that because I have learned (just recently!) that when I engage in feeling angry about being a victim, it drives me to the food. In a harmful way.
So, I have made the life choice -- not for everyone -- of cleaning up my diet and simply not eating foods that are triggering for me. I have been on all raw foods for almost 2 years now. I have been trying to develop my fasting simultaneously.

I have learned, for myself, that in order to succeed in fasting I have to really make the decision not to binge any more. This is a really difficult decision for me to make, but I rach out for support for it every day.

I've started a fast as of tonight which I hope will last anywhere from 5 to 10 days. I'd be more than happy to e-mail with you.
