Fasting Day 22

by Anonymous

Hi, today is fasting day 22. Aside from some dizzy spells, I am overall feeling pretty good. Some questions that I have about my fast are:

Even though I have lost my desire to eat, I have been having some food fantasies. Some times I will fantasize about all different kinds of food—health food, junk food etc.

I have not given into these fantasies because (1) I am not hungry (2) I want to experience a more thorough cleansing that you usually achieve on a longer fast and (3) I am in the process of breaking my addictions to caffeine and nicotine which usually happens on the later part of a fast.

After these fantasies have ended I usually go though a period of feeling really good, and then I am glad that I did not give into the urge.

It is almost like my body is grateful that I did not give in and interrupt the cleaning cycle. I was wondering if this is normal, and if the food fantasies are part of the cleaning cycle.

Also, for the past few days I have been getting what looks like pox marks/blemishes on my skin. I found one on my hand two days ago, and I have about 3-4 on my face. I am not sure what they are. I was wondering if this could be my body purging excess toxins on the latter part of my fast.

Lastly, this is my first long fast. I have read that you should fast until your body tells you to stop fasting. How do you know when it is time to stop? I have read that you get your sense of hunger back.

Can anyone tell me what this feels like? I am so use to the North American diet that is laden with crap and impulse eating, I am concerned that I may not know what a real hunger pang feels like.
