Fasting & Moderation
by LesS
(Austin, TX)
Good job in your decision to fast and be disciplined about your eating and weight habits. Here's what I think:
1. Don't overdo it. In other words, don't expect yourself to lose all the weight immediately or be able to stop eating immediately. Pace yourself and set realistic goals so that you set yourself up for success.
2. Get a little physical activity in each day and make it fun. Catch up on phone calls while taking a walk. If you use a gym - ride a stationary bike while jamming to some music. If you're in school, join an intramural team. When you're out of school, join a city or club team.
3. Expect to have plateaus so reward yourself every month or so with a special treat like a good dessert or a good meal. If you don't reward yourself you'll give up because the whole process will be miserable.
This is a lifestyle change not a new year's resolution. So be realistic and enjoy life while doing it!
