Finding Myself Again

by Claudia
(Arizona)

My name is Claudia and I have fasted before. In 2009 I began a water fast that lasted 15 days and went on to juicing from there. At the time I weighed 161 pounds. I'm 4 feet 11 and half inches tall and should be weighing a max weight of 125.

Fasting helped me to lose a lot of weight. From June 26 to September 3rd I was able to get down to 118 pounds! It was exciting. I was able to keep off the weight for a long time. In fact, after September 3, I began eating solid food, welcomed the holidays. I weighed myself again on January 26 of 2010. I weighed 120.

I had only gained three pounds since returning to solid food. I fasted for three days and was able to lose the three pounds I had gained. I decided that I would fast three days during the week in order to maintain my weight goal, while eating the other four days. It worked.

Unfortunately, I have always suffered from emotional distress. I am a binge eater, binge drinker and have been diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. My pysch doc thought I she needed to put me on a new meds. She did warn me I would gain a little weight.

Load and behold I didn't gain a little weight, I gained a lot. On top of that, I became pregnant, lost the baby and was put on even stronger medication. This all happening from May to October 2010.

Well I decided I didn't want to be on those meds anymore but I couldn't really start a fast or even slight diet. My body was out of whack and I began binge eating again.

I don't know how but I kept telling myself all December that January 3, 2011 I would begin my fast. In the mean time overindulged in the foods I loved gaining a total of 60 pounds. I don't know if you have to hit your own rock bottom, but January 3rd came and I started.

I don't even feel the hunger pains. It's strange really, I guess my mind was ready and I had been preparing on an emotional level this whole time.

I'm excited to be back on track. I have even attending certain meetings where food and alcohol are within my reach and I have stuck it out.

I'm pretty proud actually. I don't know if it was obesity, alcohol, or vicodin that cause me to have an "enlarge fatty liver" but I know I feel the best when I'm on liquids.

Keep healthy,

Claudia
