Hi Eileen
by: Richard

Doing well! Thanksgiving is tough - it took me until yesterday to get off the bloat from turkey day and the days surrounding. Don't worry about the holiday screwing you up! It took me a bunch of starts and stops to get the hang of it even BEFORE i had to deal with holidays! Fasting is not easy, but i do think it is effective and healthy if done properly.

I've stuck to the plan and am determined to continue. I've decided to do three 5-day fasts (Sunday eve through Friday eve) and breaking on the weekends. I started the first of these this past sunday eve and it's going fine. I'd be happy to hear from you either here or feel free to email me, too. The support is very helpful! 111100rjh@gmail.com - i'd love to chat!

I also plan on doing another 5 day after the holidays and then, if i've hit my target, move to maintenence (1-3 days of per week intermittent fasting). What are your goals?

I know how you feel about the weekend! But I am not going to stop - I really want to finish this up!

My daughter has already asked if we were going out to eat on Saturday! I told her no--but she could go with her friend and I would pay for it.

I will have to find something else to keep me busy this weekend.

Hey you can email me if you want - or we can keep talking here.
suziqs@hotmail.com

The tea I am drinking is a green tea, but was advertised for its metabolism boosting effects and for weight loss.
I drank a diet coke just a minute ago. I should not of but at least it wasn't food. I normally drink a lot of diet coke so I am making a huge improvement.

Good luck-- try not to break your fast over the weekend! Unless you want to. I am going to try very hard not to. I am really not hungry right now...just I think wanting to eat because that is what my mind thinks I should be doing right now! LOL

Hi Suzanne!
by: Richard

When I fasted for 5 days last time, i dropped 17lbs. There was a pretty good amount of water weight in that. I was 255lbs (for reference 6 ft 1 and also somewhat muscular b/c i weight train - my target is 210lbs) and dropped to 238. That was a month ago. After that i fasted 1 day per week and gained back 3lbs as of the night i began my latest fast (i think it was mostly water weight). This morning (84hrs in) i was down to 236 (down 5lbs).

I have never tried the specific tea you are talking about (never heard of it actually!), although i do drink green tea and still have my coffee (i know i should probably stop that!). My mind is frustrating me now b/c i am tempted to stop for the weekend - i've never fasted through a weekend. At least when i'm in the office i can focus on work!

Best!

Question to Richard
by: Anonymous

So you said you did a 5 day fast previously. Did you lose any weight doing it?

I know I am only on day 2 but I feel like I have lost weight already. I know that if I can do this 7 day fast that it will help me with my longer fast after Thanksgiving.

I feel the same way you do...there is no way I am going to attempt to continue this fast at Thanksgiving. My boyfriend and I are going to visit his family and if I didn't eat they would definitely notice and comment, and I want to avoid that!

My boyfriend has fasted before, so he is very supportive, but other than that I haven't told anybody. I don't like the google eyes they give when I try to explain what and why I am doing this.

Chat with you soon,
Suzanne

PS anyone else that needs someone to talk to feel free to talk to me!

Thanks Richard!

I didn't eat popcorn! Yeah--it is day 2 and other than this headache I feel great. You are so right about the seltzer water...I got some this morning that has no calories or sodium or anything added and it makes me feel like I am drinking a soda!

Good advise thanks. I am not hungry so right now--yesterday (being my first full day of fasting) was so hard. But today I am not dwelling on eating. I feel lighter and I know its only the second day but I feel like I have lost some weight.

We do have the same time line with our fasting so we need to keep in touch and support each other.

Let me know how you are doing. I have some oolong green tea (suppose to speed up metabolism..what do you think about drinking it?

Even though I drank a ton of bottled water yesterday I managed to sleep through the night and I haven't slept through an entire night in forever! I thought I would be going to the bathroom all night but I didn't. And I didn't have terrible ingestion like I do when I go to bed at night. That I am sure was from my bad eating at night.

Take care!
Suzanne

Don't eat the popcorn! You can do it. The first day is by far the worst, in my opinion.

You are looking at exactly the same timeframes that I am.

One thing that has helped me when i start to really feel hunger pains (i'm on day 3) is to drink seltzer. It immediately takes away the "sick-ish" feeling and makes life more bearable. Tons of water in-between. You'll do fine.

How are you doing Adromeda?
by: Anonymous

Hello--I started today my 7 day fast. It is almost 5pm, and only been drinking water (oops I did have a diet soda this morning). All I have to eat here at work is popcorn--I have really been wanting that darn popcorn--but so far I have not!

I really want to do this--

How has your day been today? Hopefully it went well!

I plan on doing this 7 day water fast, and then after Turkey day I plan on doing a 20 day fast.

It does help to have someone to talk to.

Good Luck to everyone!

Keep it up
by: Richard

Hi there! I'm with you. I've done a 5 day fast in the past successfully, but that's my record. I've done a number of 1 and 2 day fasts as well. The temptation today is a bit tough - i just got a box of Omaha Steaks delivered to my office - oh no!

I'm in need of motivation myself! You can do this!

My target is 9 days - ending Tuesday of next week(i'm taking not going to attempt a Turkey Day fast!) and then 20 days starting the following monday.

Let's do it together!

Day 1....
by: Andromeda

So It's 9:47am Wednesday (11/18) I am @ work currently..I'm a security officer. SO I'm pretty much in one spot during my 8 hour day..Based at the fron desk in the building. So yeah that does make it hard for me.

I'm use to snacking my day away while at work..unless I'm actually busy. But no NOT today!! For me this is a big thing. I have a gallon jub of water sitting directly next to me on my desk...A bit of a reminder as to what it is I am doing..

I guess I chose a gallon of water because if it is sitting right in my line of view I will have to bump it or move it to get to other things and there for making it hard to NOT notice it and then leading me to actually remember and MAKE me drink it. :)

Yay me...I feel a little odd but I'm good..I have been craving all sorts of stuff and wanting it badly...lol even though it's only going on 10am...for most people this amount of time would be EASY PEEZY...but it's not when you are so use to snacking ALL the time...with vending machines and such things around.

So I feel my "mind" craving food...and my "mind" saying..."At home you have a fridge full of food if you do not eat it noone else will and it will go bad!" HAHA...That Mental monkey is riding my back fiercely.

But I'm doing my best. :) Lets see how home is when I get there after work and how the rest of the night goes for me...See ya!
