I am on day 5 of a water/ juice fast and I have a lot of the same similarities to your story. I am also over weight by 70ish pounds and have bad allergies.
I have fasted before for 21 days on juice and found that all my allergies disappeared within a few days and stayed gone for a year or so.
I am greatly anticipating that with this fast also as my allergies have been awful lately. Gum though? I chewed gum on my last fast and it sabotaged me totally.
I was shooting for 30 days and the gum made my hunger come back so strong at week 2 that I couldn't stay strong.
My advice for any faster would be, take it one day at a time. Do not count down the days.That shouldn't be your focus. I tell myself all the time when temptation comes, I only have to make it till I go to bed tonight.
Tomorrow is another day. When I start thinking, maybe I shouldn't fast so long because of a party or outing or something a few days or weeks away, I start sabotaging myself.
