We live in a world that often tells us more is better. Fasting for weight loss, fitness
and health may be good for the "holy" - some may say. But the common perception appears to be that
"hunger - real or
imagined - must be appeased at all times and without question". And with the growth of technology,
microwave goods and "instant" everything - taking the road less traveled
of fasting for weight loss & improved health is NOT the most popular course of action.Live to eat even
if it kills you later. I want it all, and I want it NOW.
Fasting for weight loss - or any change requiring sacrifice - is the last thing on most of
their minds. At least until illness strikes. Then, in panic, many run to the hospitals and
demand a "cure." The almighty doctor, some believe, is the solution to the obesity and toxicity problem.
Personal Responsibility can, in some cases, be bypassed in favor of pills, surgeries and countless other
unnecessary procedures.
But the truth is much, much dimmer: Food has become a "drug addiction" just as destructive as cigarettes, alcohol, cocaine and heroin. Like the last days of the Roman Empire, excess is taking its victims in a carnage of obesity and food debauchery. In a perfectly legal fashion, the drug "food " is claiming victims by the millions - many being oblivious (or indifferent) to the fact that they are killing themselves - one bite at a time.
A Way OutBut there is a way out, and it is NOT just a diet. Fitness Through Fasting is here to help you explore fasting for weight loss (via juice, fruit and water fasts) as one of the best preventive "cures" you can practice. We also will talk about the amazing benefit of long-term liquid and cleansing diets. Liquid diets are usually comprised of juices, fat-free or soy milk and various types of soups and mashed vegetable meals. By fasting, one gives the body time to rest from the constant process of digestion so it can divert its resources to healing and detoxification. An eating "vacation," in turn, can renew a person's entire being and provide a fresh and dynamic perspective in every aspect of life. This is NOT an exaggeration, by the way. A Plague of Epidemic ProportionsParticularly in the US, obesity has become an epidemic - a true plague. The US, to some extent, has become what we shall call The Anti-Prevention Nation.© Why? --> Here is the alarming scenario: Millions - young and old - are swarming to hospitals seeking to be "cured" yet, unfortunately, the mass majority do little if anything to prevent illness from surfacing in the first place. They are allowing themselves to become obese. Toxic. Sick. This overeating plague causes quality of life to go down - physically and mentally. Many overweight and obese people have trouble with their social lives. Many are depressed and prefer to isolate. Others are constantly visiting the doctor in search of "the magic pill" while continuing to succumb to heartbreaking binging and compulsive overeating. Now this isn't to say that "all medications" are bad and worthless.
This website is NOT dedicated to talking about the evils of medicine as some may
choose to do.
Medicine is wonderful I myself have been helped by it during my path of recovery from liver illness and chronic
depression. What we ARE talking about here is relying "ONLY" on doctors and medicine
to address our personal health. Not wanting to assume personal responsibility; not being willing to do everything
possible "within my grasp" to improve and enhance my health and overall wellbeing.
In some cases, unnecessary gastric bypass surgeries are performed. In lesser cases, there is simply a constant feeling of restlessness and dissatisfaction with ones weight and physical condition. Obesity and Toxicity produce a rabid harvest of sicknesses including diabetes, cancer, hypertension, heart disease and strokes (among others). Ultimately, if left unchecked, obesity and toxicity can lead those stricken to pay the ultimate price: death. Or, it can produce a life of complacency and dreams that never come true. Fasting for weight loss gave me a drastic push away from these cunning and baffling destructive conditions ... and it can do the same for you!
Prevention ... A Radical Concept?If you do not believe me - or perhaps think me an extremist - take it then from a national medical authority. Former US Surgeon General Richard Carmona has gone on the record to say that disease prevention is still a radical concept to most Americans. According to Carmona, America's obesity quagmire is the Terror Within. He said obesity in children is actually hurting national security because many are getting too fat for service. A surge in childhood obesity, says Carmona, has come simultaneous to the rise in related chronic conditions as Type II diabetes and hypertension. The fact that these are middle-age diseases showing up in elementary school children, Carmona said, is undermining the nation's strength. This is not an editorial, by the way. I myself could have been the president of The Anti-Prevention Nation.© Fat, slothful, depressed, paralyzed by isolation, bitterness and self-pity. Suicidal and hopeless. Trapped. If anybody came up to me and spoke of fasting for weight loss, I would probably have ridiculed them. Quietly, however, I lived in utter hopelesness and desperation. I wanted to be free. Yet was ashamed of my body, ashamed of my binging. I felt that my life was worthless, meaningless, pointless. So I ate some more. Who would want me anyways? Why try? Fasting for weight loss was my doorway to freedom.
The "DIET" JuggernautDiets to a great extent fail because, while facilitating weight loss initially, the dieter usually returns to poor eating habits once the regimen is over. This, of course, is not a generalization. There are many excellent diet programs that work at changing a persons behaviors as it relates to food. But, in most cases, good people find themselves trying every diet under the sun - yet the obesity and overeating problem resurfaces time and again.
What we wish to promote here is "permanent" change. Partial, intermittent fasts followed by a longer one of anywhere from 21 to 30 days and beyond - depending on your health and disposition. But that is not to say that unless you can fast for 30 days, then you should not fast at all. Even fasting for ONE day every two weeks can provide you with substantial benefits - both in your mind and body. So don't procrastinate any longer! The time is NOW to live the life you deserve, and fasting is the doorway that led me to liberty. My personal experience, along with that of many others, is that fasting for weight loss, health and self-discipline can stop the obesity plague in its tracks. It can restore your entire being and take you to levels of clarity, energy and vitality that you never thought were possible. It can, in essence, be your own Fountain of Youth.
