Juice fast
by: Sammy

Hello. I have started my juice fast today. I too need to break away from my eating habits- eating when stressed, sad, angry, happy and just generally overeating and not stopping when my body tells me to. I really need this boost to help me start losing the weight and allow me to start fresh. I have been quite tired today, had to have a nap this afternoon! having done a short water fast before i know that after the first few days i will feel so much better. we just have to keep going! my only worry is that i will binge eat after the fast and ruin all my hard work!
We should keep each other updated over the next few weeks, it would be good to have some support.x.

GOOD LUCK
by: Anonymous

Dear Cecelia: My story is similar to yours. I lost 45 lbs over a few months 2 years ago by adopting a really strict diet (mostly veggies, and also low fat and low carb protein sources), and got really into running and other forms of cardio. I think the most interesting thing for people like us is that we can become SO regimented with diet and exercise, to the point that in my case I didn't even allow myself to skip a day at the gym, and it became routine even 7 days a week and on holidays, etc. WELL, over the past 2 years, my eating habits have gotten worse and I've fallen into a routine of not exercising as much and basically overeating/emotional eating. I recently did a 21 day water fast to try to get my eating habits back on track, and I can tell you that I thought about food for 90% of the fast. It felt so good, however, to be free of having to eat and prepare meals, and worry about calories and fat and consequences. The day that I broke the fast I went on a 7 day binge and ate everything in sight (particularly "forbidden" foods). So, I tried to make up for it by fasting again, and did 7 days. Same thing happened....so now I am on day 1, and am going to be sure that I focus on how to break this fast with good habits. I guess my point is that you can do it!!!! Just make sure you have a plan for eating better after the fast is through, and try to stick with it. I also think that 21 days is good for breaking a habit or particular food addiction (ie. sugars, etc.). GOOD LUCK!!!

It's tough!
by: Anonymous

The worst is not being able to get out of those social gatherings, invitations, etc. that all involve food and alcohol! You can't very well just say "I'm fasting" without getting sent away!

But set your goal and stick to it. If you're fasting on set days then figure it out and make it work. Make excuses, lie if you need to!

If you end up not being able to get out of something - try to just exercise self control - have just one bite - or don't have anything at all! Try it - I always see skinny people around not eating or just pretending to eat sort of picking. Just trick your mind. Think about how gross it will look later! Or if possible wait until 3-5 days of fasting - then you shouldn't even be hungry - that is of course unless stress triggers are going to induce eating ::sigh::
Well there are several paths to take. One big spring clean fast is the way to go in my opinion. Then you can slowly ease back into things with a clean slate :) Good luck!

me too!

Fasting is the ONLY way I've ever found that really deals with food addiction. It's sad it took me so long to find it, but better late than never. I've lost 70 lbs so far, have 30 or more to go. One day at a time (and sometimes my fasts only go one day! And it still works). Just keep going back to it every week.

I too need to gain control over overeating. I tried overeaters annonymouse and it did nothing for me. I am on day 3 of a mostly water fast but i will drink a diet coke 2 times a day since i can not deal with the caffeine withdrawls.. It is harder than I thought, but i am really hoping that I can stick to it. would love a buddy. Good luck to you and wish me luck..LOL WE CAN DO IT!!
