Seltzer Water & Lime to Ease Fasting Detox Hunger Pains by: Robert Dave Johnston - FTF Editor / Webmaster
Dear Fasting Warrior:
Congratulations on your four days. By now you are probably on day six. That is awesome! In direct response to your question, DO NOT WORRY about seltzer water and it ruining your fast. If it is helping you - go ahead and continue to use it as often as you need to.
There is something about the effervescence that eases hunger pains associated with the fasting detox process. In regards to the lime or lemon, you can go to your local supermarket and get lime or lemon extract. They usually come in small plastic containers - in shape of a lime or lemon.
Having said that, it is important that you put a "small" amount of the extract juice in the seltzer water. DO NOT turn it into a lemonade! : ) But it is perfectly alright for you to rely on seltzer water to carry you through the water fasting procedure.
In addition, to dot forsake drinking straight water either. What I do is carry a tall glass around with me and I make it a point to fill it with water at least ten times a day and drink it. Drink it quickly.
When hunger pains strike, I often fill the glass two and even three times in a row and drink the water as fast as I can. Many times when I do this, I end up having some pretty intense bowel movements. If you use both the seltzer water with lime AND the glass technique, you will find the process much less uncomfortable.
I also suggest that drink several cups of decaffeinated green tea during the day; One in the morning as your "breakfast" drink, one in the afternoon, and another one in the evening. It feels great when the hot liquid hits the belly. Green tea soothes hunger pains and even provides a pep of energy.
To round up: use the seltzer water and add lime or lemon sparingly. Drink it as often as you like. Carry around a tall glass and fill it with water and drink it quickly at least ten times a day. Fill it two or three times in quick succession when hunger hits.
AND drink three cups of decaffeinated green tea a day - in the morning, afternoon and evening. If you are on the go, I suggest you carry tea bags with you so you can prepare it anywhere that you are.
At any rate, these tips have carried me through various 40-day water fasts, and one 60-day water fast - in addition to several other 60 and 90-day juice fasts. It works!
I hope this helps you. Do not hesitate to write again if you need more help. Thank you for being part of our fasting community. God bless you and have a wonderful day! Keep us posted on your progress...
Warm Regards,
