Starting a Water Fast - Seeking Support & Encouragement

I have been struggling with food for many years. I have tried several different diets. I lose, I gain. I used to think I was addictive to just sweets. I have finally come to the conclusion that the relationship that I have with food is bad..very bad.
I don't eat/diet properly. Food is my friend, my comforter, my company for TV, my companion with friends. I have decided to start a water fast today. I weight this morning. I was at 293. I realize that I am slowly killing myself.
I want off all my meds. I want to be part of the normal size. I have always been overweight. I never felt that I was overweight. I partied hard. I participated in activities. I felt that I was part of the group.
I never saw myself as a overweight person. When I looked in the mirror, I would see my hour glass figure. I never looked at myself from the side. If I had, I would have realized that my stomach is sticking out. I finally looked at myself from the side and I was shocked.
Even though I wore large size clothes, I never saw an overweight person. Lately I see myself as huge person. I see that people are half my size. I work a lot and rarely stop for lunch. I usually come home and just go through the kitchen.
I have to stop eating food cold turkey. I watch shows about people with addictive behavior and I realize that what I am seeing is me. I am having an intervention with myself. When I look at my checking account, I realize I use my debit card for a lot of fast food and regular restaurants.
I have fasted before and when you share with your friends or relatives, they discourage this. I will not share what my plans are with friends or family for at least a week.
I feel that I must gain control of my life. After reading some of the stories here, I am encouraged. I thank the contributors for sharing.
