Water Fasting Every-Other-Day Works Great For Me

I am about 20 pounds overweight, 2 weeks ago I started fasting every other day. The other days I eat healthy, meaning 2 apples for breakfast, lots of green tea in the morning and for lunch I eat steamed vegetables with chicken and more fruit during the afternoon.

But do not eat dinner, I think everyone loses weight differently but for me this seems to work well I lost about 4 pounds each week. I also drink lots of water, about 4,5 gallons of still water each day as mentioned before about 4-5 tall glasses of green tea until about noon. I worry about drinking more green tea since I already am a light sleeper.

The days I fast I also work and I am really good with it. I feel great in the morning after my fasting days. For regular bowel movement I eat activia yogurt which is supposed to promote healthy bowel movement and it seems to work just fine for me.

I take vitamin supplements daily and as mentioned eat very healthy ( at least I think so) during my non fasting days.

The start was indeed difficult, but once I started and ended my first week checking me weight after that week it was great motivation.
Of course I realize that I cannot fast 3 days forever but have to always eat healthy but it is just great motivation and I do believe fasting is healthy.

For me its just that I need motivation and if someone tells me I need to lose a pound a week to lose weight healthy it is just not motivating.
I also work out about 4-5 times a week doing yoga on fast days and cardio on non fasting days.
I know it will be difficult to go back to eating every day but I plan to do this slowly meaning going from 3 days to 2 to 1 ecc.

I thought about doing a week of water fasting but I also worry about loosing weight too much and coming off of an entire week.

Is someone else doing every other day fasting? I would love to hear how you're doing and if there are other tips. I worry about a weight plateau :(

I do 36hr fast every other day....I just started and i workout 6days a week.....when i fast i take in 0 day usually 2800.....1st week I lost 6lbs......going to keep going as long as I can lol

I want to suggest a book: Rational fasting by Arnold Ehret.. it's a really great read and helps you understand the human body and health in a very simplistic way! :)

I have been fruit juice fasting 3 days per week. About a quart of fresh fruit juice diluted with 3 parts water. Decaf herbal tea. So far so good. I tried to go 3 days in a row but got too weak to work out so that didnt work. Seeing everyone's comments, I may try plain water. I don't weigh myself but my clothes are fitting a lot better and I just feel lighter. Best wishes to everyone as we find our way to healthy.

I'm fasting 3 times a week and the rest of the time and eating 2 meals on the non fasting days which involves greens and protein. I don't drink as much water and green tea as you but drink about 12 glasses of spring water a day. I've read eat stop eat by Brad Pilon and know that your metabolism doesn't slow down if you eat every other day. Ontop of fasting I also work out and have gotten good results for myself. I don't see why you would want to stop fasting to go back to regular eating if your system is working for you. Cut back your fasting to 1 or 2 days a week after you've hit your taget weight. If you fast one or two days a week you'll maintain your weight loss. I've done some research and found the the greek orthadox church fasts 180 days out of the year and its a daily part of life. So why stop a good thing if you have all that energy.

I honestly can't pass 3 days, so i'm trying to waterfast every other day. It's much easier.. But I really want to do 7 straight days. I'll let you guys know my progress once i'm done.

I hit a plateau at about 30 till my goal. Ive been doing this for 2 Weeks and lost 14 pounds though I was skipping 2 days inbetween. I tested the diet by eating alot, more than I did in gaining all that weight, for one week. I only gained 2 lbs. I fasted 1 day and dropped 3. Its almost like this diet plan trained my body to drop the weight. Now im doing eod fasting and dropping 1 to 2 lbs on days I fast and not changing on days I eat. Not much more to go. Just experiment and listen to ur bodys needs. U can do it :)
