Water Fasting Not Going According to Textbook Experiences

I am a 39-year-old female on day 11 of a long water fast. For the past few days, I have been experiencing overwhelming hunger pains.
They came on like a vengeance. Granted, I am close to starting my period, and I have had frequent problems with increase in appetite just before my period. However, I didn't expect this while fasting.
This is weird, and making my fast difficult. Also, my weight loss has all but halted during this time. Is all of this just because I'm retaining water because of my period? Is it my hormones?
Other than that, I am energetic and experiencing absolutely no lightheadedness or weakness at all. I feel great. I have been walking every day for exercise. I have even been able to continue working and caring for my children, cooking their meals and all.
I have consumed absolutely nothing other than water. Will this hunger end when I start my period? Will I have a sudden large weight loss once my period has ended? Perhaps I'm actually losing weight, but just retaining water? This is very distressing to me, and I can't find any answers online.
