Water Fasting - Overcoming the Mental Noise - Fasting & The Mind
First of all thanks for the wealth of info and motivation that I came across on this site.
I have done quite a few fasts before but only juice or one meal (fruits only) fasts.
As far as water fasts go, this is my first one. I have been preparing for it for quite a while now. Recently I did a 3 day water fast and got a feel of what I would be experiencing!
But it wasn't crippling, I mean I was still able to do my normal activities and the discomfort usually went after a while or I forgot about it when I busied myself with my hobbies.
And that's exactly what I plan to do - keep myself busy with things I like (nothing exhausting) so that my brain doesn't go astray.
One thing is for sure- its not really the physical effects but the mental noise that makes fasting tough. And hence the saying.."mind over matter..".
By the way, I plan to do a 42 day water fast starting today. I am almost obese and need to get my life back on track. My biggest problem is depression and comfort eating, and I have to put an end to this vicious cycle.
And I really hope I will able to do it with the blessings of God and the help and support of you all. I will probably document my progress and share it to keep going.
