Its OK
by: Evelyn

Hi Miriam,

You should read posts by Jane and I under the post "Binging after fasting....please help..." We talk alot about this problem, and how we have completed many short fasts, but how we often give into temptation and its hard. Both of us have really wanted to complete longer fasts, but we haven't yet done 30 days. It is nice to know that there are others out there that share your same difficulties, so feel free to join us :) maybe we could all try the 30 days together!!!!

you can
by: Anonymous

you are like me and so many others. I have completed a 40 day fast; approximately 5 years ago. i have yet to reach that plateau again. But i cant tell you to count every accomplishment.a break is a break and our bodies are crying for it.
so give yourself a clap on the back for the 4-5 days that you did accomplish allowing your body to rest and rejuvenate.

thye cravings will come and can be overcome... as a single mom i still have to cook and prepare meals for my children; this can seem like a prison sentence at times. but it does get easier. i promise

My Suggestions
by: Racheal

There may be hundreds of thousands if not millions of others in the same boat as you. We live in a culture where food is seen as a reward or the centre of a celebration.

Most people with food addictions have a real relationship with food. Food is constantly on their minds. Food is their friend, companion, saviour, their comforter...Food is the reward for being lonely, bored, depressed, stressed, but most times it is the reward we believe we deserve and must have. Sadly, that way of thinking also rewards us with unhealthy, sloppy bodies.

The solution is to retrain our thoughts firstly, and NOT EVER buy junk and keep it in the house because at times of weakness it's there. If we have to go out of our way to get the high carb, high fat stuff, the possibility exists that sensible thinking might click in before the damage is done.

Finally, most of us with food addictions are that way because at some point, mainly at childhood, we felt unloved, unwanted and rejected. If you were the only one let alive in the world you are still loved.

The originator of love is not a human man or woman, it is our Heavenly Father. Direct your love towards Him and He shall fill in all the empty spaces.
