I was just like you two years ago. Wow, that's scary.
by: Anonymous

And I say I was just like you because I'm 5'4", 21 now, and was around 140 when I did my first water fast.

You know what helps? Writing everything that comes to your mind. I typed am unofficial journal on my laptop that I deleted later b/c I just had to let it out of my system. I kept track of how long I'd been fasting for--that was encouraging as the days went by--, the cravings I had, the random foods that I dreamed about--yes, that happened to me too--, and all the frustration. It helped A LOT and I didn't even show it to anyone. Just keep going. If people can fast for forty days, you can do this for a week or two. Woohoo!!

Fasting with Tea
by: Anonymous

I fasted for 23 days last year and lost 20 pounds. I found that drinking tea with honey helped keep my energy up, keep my moods even (more even than usual), and I was still happy with the weight I lost. I gained back 5 pounds over 8 months - mainly because I ate too much junk food over Christmas. There are so many types of tea that it didn't even really get boring for me. After about 17 days I started weaning myself off tea and onto water, but I'm not sure if I would do that again. I could tell I was burning more muscle when I did that. Also, the honey gave me the energy to keep going made it possible for me to continue exercising. Hope this helps.

You're too small to fast
by: Anonymous

I am 5'3" and weigh 153 pounds. I have fasted for 40 days before when I weighed nearly 170 pounds and lost 30 pounds, which I have only gained back about 12-15 pounds over the course of 5 years. I am now starting a new 21 day fast since I do this with my church every year starting January 1, to give my first fruit of the year to God. He has so blessed me on these yearly fasts as I seek His will for my life. When I first started fasting 5 years ago, it was one of the hardest things I've done. I was so weak and hungry for the first 5 days that I thought I would faint. After the first 5 days, it wasn't so bad. It was just as if I'd skipped a meal or two. By the 39th day, I again became weak. I think I might have died if I hadn't started back eating. At 5'4" and 140 pounds, you are not at all obese. As a medical assistant, I can tell you that your weight is perfect for your height. That is probably why you are so weak. When I fasted for 40 days, I drank juice and had broth in the evenings to help keep my sugar regulated. It's not healthy to drink only water for so long. Your body will start breaking down muscle, hence the weakness you are feeling. If you were overweight, it wouldn't happen since you would have fat to burn, but you're not overweight, so drink juice and have broth and don't lose more than 10 pounds or you will be unhealthy. :)

want to become fasting buddies?
by: Anonymous

Hi, I’m 21 years old and as a young adult who has been the fat friend of thin girls I found that I could relate to what you wrote. I’m on the second day of water fast. I have recently graduated and the thing that really pushed me to do a dramatic water fast is that my skinny ass cousin started flirting with the guy that I have fancied for the past 3 years. She was the only person that I confessed my feelings to about my crush. The worst part is that she acted like nothing was wrong when I tried to confront her about it. I have no amazing tips on how you should go about your water fast but I would really appreciate a friend to support me on this journey. By the way, I’m Kurdish and unfortunately I come from a culture where you are judged according to your looks. My weight was never extremely bad. I’m not obese but my inability to shed my 'baby fat' has become an embarrassment to even my sister and mother.

Let me know if you want to chat.

Trying for the 3rd. time...!!!
by: Patricia

Hi, everyone!!!Congrats to all the courageous folks who make it through the 3rd. day...Please, I need help: tell me How you do it???I'm ok for the first 3 days, but on the fourth I feel so anxious and "hungry" that can't make it. The craziest thing is that after 3 days I start noticing the difference, I'm not bloated, and my belly is FLAT.
I found that drinking tea made from the pinneapple peel and cinnamon(tastes delicious)helps me a little bit. At least it's something warm...(even cold is good)one question: Does it has to be just water???I know Pinneapple is a great enzime that helps protein digestion...
If somebody can give me a tip, please, do so...I would greatly appreciate it!! I'll start today at 3 PM.
P.S. It's hard when you have a demanding husband who won't eat just a simple dinner and a 3 & a 4 year old...help!!I want to try it for 2 weeks. Thank you , guys!!
