The purpose in these series of pages will be to help you maintain your weight loss motivation while you are fasting, and to support you in the achievement of your goals - keeping them realistic, active and in perspective.

Whether you are water fasting or juice fasting, I have learned from hard experience that there simply aren't any "so called" overnight successes or magical cures, pills or mantras.

It is important for you to bear in mind that your fasting and weight loss goals will require concentrated effort and - yes - sacrifice.

It is certainly not my intention to paint a rosy weight loss motivation picture. Rather, I will make it a point to give you REAL information that can lead you to achieve REAL results - long term.

We want to offer you plenty of encouragement, empathy and human support. But it is you, and only you, who will have to walk through the withdrawal and detoxification those first uncomfortable seven to ten days.

As I have mentioned in other pages of this site, this initial time period is the one the represents the greatest physical challenge and discomfort due to hunger pains and withdrawal symptoms.

One thing I can promise you from personal experience: the short-term withdrawal and hunger pains you traverse will not be in vain. And please: If You Initially Stumble, dust yourself off and try, try again. You can do it. And you are worth it! Fasting for weight loss and fitness will dramatically improve the quality of your life. I guarantee it.

But, as with everything else in this life, there is a price to pay. Do not ever give up! Keep trying; over and over and over if necessary. That is why weight loss motivation is so important. That is the purpose of this page and this website in general.

Keep focused on your final goal: a new body, increased vitality, clearer thinking, younger-looking skin and healing at a cellular level. Whatever amount of weight you need to lose probably did not get there overnight, so it will take some time to get it off.

Fasting Challenge

It is important for you to keep in mind that, probably, nothing you ever attempt will likely be harder than keeping your weight loss motivation and health goals through fasting.

The reason for that is that society is always bombarding us with food, food and more food. Food, in essence, is the center of pretty much every human gathering. Special occasion? Let's eat! You got married? Let's eat! You got a promotion? Let's eat! You having a child? Let's eat!

This is not to say that we ought not celebrate with food. What has happened is that, many times, the eating is focused on the wrong types of foods, and - mind you - in very large quantities.

That is the crux of the problem as I have come to see it over the years. In the old days, you had better have plenty of meat, grease and sugar if you invited me over to your home. If there was no pie, you could count me out!

Toxic and Media-Hypnotized

Whether you are watching TV, driving or surfing the Internet, chances are you will come across some type of food add beckoning you to eat.

Also, our bodies have become so toxic that they are constantly craving more and more fat. More of whatever it is that is making us sick. We are offered little weight loss motivation, but instead are encouraged to overeat NOW - regardless of the future consequences.

The mind set that I have struggled with the most is that of "immediate gratification." If my body craves something, then I must immediately rush to feed it without a second thought on whether or not it will harm me to do so. So long as it tastes good, all other thoughts are swiftly ignored or denied.

I vividly recall fasting and suddenly being struck by an overwhelming urge for pepperoni pizza, the very food food I had been abusing for years.

That was no coincidence. The body is wise. If you follow your cravings, you will find the food that is -- in most cases - causing the very toxicity that fasting will help eradicate.

Another one of the challenges you will face when fasting is that losing weight takes time. Even if you decide to launch an extended water fasting campaign, it will still take 40 days to lose 40 pounds, in most cases. You may lose more depending on your body makeup, but this is a good average overall.

But, still, 40 days is a very diminished amount of time in comparison to the months and months it would take to lose that same amount of weight with a conventional diet.

Again, I am not advocating starvation or anorexia fasting here. What I am saying is that many times fasting is the best choice because it helps you drop dangerous pounds quickly, AS WELL as cleanse toxins from your digestive system and bloodstream.

Urge to Give Up

While you are fasting the desire to quit and forget about the whole thing will often come strongly. If your goal is to lose anywhere between 5 to 20 pounds, I would advice you to go into it headlong with either a 21-day juice or water fast, if your health so allows it.

But what is you are more than 40 pounds overweight? What if you need to lose 60, 80 or even 100 pounds? How can one maintain weight loss motivation against such seemingly unsurmountable odds?

Those are the questions we wish to address in this section. Give you fasting tips ... Fasting Made Easy - so to speak. Be prepared to go through some pain, however.

Phases of Weight Loss

What if you are more than 50 pounds overweight? Certainly you cannot fast for 50 days to get the weight off, right? Well, more than likely you could, but I do not recommend it. But don't lose your weight loss motivation.

It can still be done. How? Well, what I suggest is that you break down the fasting effort into various phases each geared at shaving a certain (pre-determined) number of pounds.

In my case, for example, I just got so fed up with my life situation that I launched a 40-day water fast literally overnight. Yet, when I was done with those 40 days, I still was another 20 to 30 pounds above my ideal weight!

Let me tell you, that was very tough to swallow. I felt great for the weight I had lost, but was discouraged that the work had not been completed.

Eating Light after Fasting

Here is what I did. After completing the 40-day water fast, I was definitely not the same. The process was long and often painful. I was no longer willing to just eat anything. I found myself being able to say NO to foods that previously had me enslaved - donuts, pizza, steak, apple pie etc...

So even though I was still at least 30 pounds overweight, I was able to break the 40-day fast and keep myself eating light. That is the KEY to weight loss motivation through fasting when you have more than 50 pounds to lose.

Indivisible Freedom

As it relates to my initial 40-day water fast, however, indeed the key was to eat light. My diet consisted mostly of vegetable soup, fruits, vegetables and fish ... period. I felt great and all cravings for sugar-filled and fatty foods had left me.

Compared to the way I was eating before the fast, this "freedom" was truly a miracle! So, then, roughly 30 to 40 days after I completed the first 40-day water fast, I launched another one - this one for 21 days. To know just how wonderful you will feel after you complete your withdrawal and detoxification should be your key focus at this time.

That should be your strongest weight loss motivation. The most difficult part of the process is to rouse yourself from lethargy and make the decision -- deep in your gut -- that you no longer wish to live the way you have been, and are prepared to believe that you CAN lose weight and KEEP IT OFF!

I want you to know, my friend, that fasting for weight loss will take you there. It will. It did for me. And I have come back to it over and over through the years for different purposes - or when I felt I was straying and beginning to become toxic again.

My weight loss motivation for you is that, regardless of the initial discomfort, there is a light at the end of the tunnel shining directly towards you. It is beckoning you to take the plunge and become willing to traverse the initial storm.

The brass ring of freedom awaits at the other side. Once you get there, I know that you will wonder why it took you so long to do it in the first place.
