This breaks down to eight, 8-ounce glasses per day - totaling 64 ounces - half a gallon. That's it! Drinking half a gallon of water per day, it is indicated, can foster gradual weight loss over time, without exercise or special diets. The premise is that cool water forces your body to burn roughly 60 calories more per day because it has to "warm" the water up to body temperature. Cool water means refrigerated – period. Not frozen or full of ice. To be sure, there are two things that are vital for human life that often are either neglected or taken for granted: water and air. Consider that the only liquids most people get around to drinking these hectic are juices, sodas, coffee or powdered diet drinks - anything except pure, unadulterated WATER. I was one of them. But if you are truly serious about fasting for weight loss and health, then the water diet is imperative. Water fasting is for a season of detoxification, healing and spiritual reflection. The Water Diet is for keeps. It says: continue to drink half a gallon of water every day once the fast is over. This, we believe, is quite possibly more important than the fast itself. Drinking half a gallon of water every daily after you fast will take care of any toxins that linger in your body. 97% WaterSince the human body is 97 percent water, proper hydration is vital to keep the organs functioning properly - especially the digestive system and colon which can be so easily clogged when we eat the wrong types of foods - like I did. The water diet does not imply fasting of any type. It is designed to support any conventional diet you may be following. Our opinion is that every person should definitely follow the water diet. Water fasting, however, can produce much faster and dramatic weight loss, while also cleansing your body of stored filth and toxins that could literally kill you. Then, AFTER you fast, by all means continue to drink at the very least half a gallon of water per day.
I DO NOT believe that simply drinking water while continuing to gorge and NOT change your eating habits will produce desirable results. I don't think that is what the water diet scientists had in mind either. I DO know, however, that a diet IN ADDITION to the water diet, can indeed help keep you in track once you complete a fasting and detoxification process. I use MediFast. Water - Not Coffee & CigarettesOne key point I always emphasize to people I work with is that water fasting and the water diet are comprised of exactly that – WATER. Many people argue and say that tea and coffee are made up of water and therefore should be allowed while fasting. This is hogwash. The whole point of water fasting (and the water diet) is to help flush toxins with the indivisible power of water only. There are various types of teas, however, that we do recommend to assist you in your fasting and cleansing efforts. The fast must be broken immediately. Start Water Diet One Week Before Water FastingI can tell you from first hand experience, that water fasting can be quite challenging. You will face pretty much every human weakness you knew you had, and DID NOT know you had. Your body may go through notable discomfort for seven to 11 days, depending on how overweight and toxic you may be. But do not shy away from the task at hand just because it will be uncomfortable, please. The best way to launch an extended period of water fasting, I have found, is to actually start using The Water Diet at least one week before you begin. Also, I suggest you taper off heavy and greasy foods during this time. If you can drink as much as one gallon of water per day one week before starting the fast – so much the better. This will start the detox process. Stay close to a toilet, is all I can say - especially if you NEVER have been much of a water drinker. Moreover, cut out steaks, pastries and anything with a high sugar or fat content. If you are a coffee drinker, I strongly suggest that you move to decaf before launching the fast. If you do not, the headaches can become quite nasty. I do not recommend in any way that you fast and continue to drink coffee and smoke cigarettes.
